Half-sheet “Community Education Course Registration” forms are available in the Community Education Center, in the Matrix Center located at 315 Falls Ave in the Taylor Administration Building on the CSI campus, on download from here. Feel free to print out as many copies as you need.
Checks are made payable to the College of Southern Idaho. All checks must note the student name and class(es) being covered by the check.
Every student enrolled in a credit or non-credit CSI course is assigned an ID number based on name and birth date. This number is located on your confirmation or student schedule which is provided to you via email or mail, after enrolling for a class.
Every course at CSI is assigned a separate course number in the records system, including zero credit enrichment classes. These numbers are separate from the title of the course and include a course number and section number. (Example: Pottery is the course title, XART 008 is the course number, and C01 or C02 is the section number.) Having as much of this information as accessible as possible will expedite the registration process. Course numbers are located at the end of each class description. Sometimes more descriptive information is located in the course specifics (time, date, etc.)
If a class must be cancelled due to low enrollment or for other circumstances, you will be notified by mail or phone and will receive a full refund in the mail.
If you decide to drop a class after you have registered, an official drop slip must be completed before the first class meeting through the Community Education Center or Matrix Center. This is the only way the class drop will be valid and on record. The Community Education Center is self-supporting and the tuition for classes is used to pay instructors and instructional costs. The instructors are often paid on the number of students enrolled in their class. Therefore, a refund will only be given if the class is officially dropped through the use of a drop slip prior to the first class session. The refund process is quick and painless! Simply call us with your request 72 hours prior to the first class session, supply us your request information, and your refund will be sent to you in the mail. You should receive a refund check within 10 days to 2 weeks.
Fees vary and are listed for each course. Enrollment fees are due at the time of registration. Sometimes there are extra material fees for the course and if that is the case, it will be noted in the class description.
Classes are limited in size. It is best to register as soon as you can, but you can register up until the first day of class if there is space. If you wait until the last day to register, the class may have filled to its limit or cancelled due to lack of enrollment.
In general, the minimum age for participation in Adult Community Education Classes is 16 years of age. Those wishing to enroll children younger than this should call Community Education to request special permission, which may be granted depending upon the class, the child and the instructor. Babies and children of persons enrolling in evening classes are better left at home where they won’t get bored or disturb others.
All classes are listed in the general CSI Course Schedule newspaper insert each semester and on the Community Education Website at http://communityed.csi.edu. In addition, this Community Education Catalog will be mailed to all persons who have registered for a Community Education class within the past four semesters. If you did not receive this catalog in the mail but would like to do so, please call the Community Education office at 732-6442.
