CSI Theatre Camp

CSI Theater Camp

Theatre Camp: June 21 - 25, 2022

At CSI Theater Camp, students will have the opportunity to expand their skills in everything from acting and musical theater to set design and costuming in a fun and immersive environment! The camp features an impressive guest faculty of theater professionals from all over the country who bring a wealth of talent and knowledge to assure each student achieves their highest potential. Students will choose from different tracks, ranging from classes designed for younger students who don't have theater experience to advanced classes geared toward older students who have studied theater or have been in productions who would like to expand their knowledge and skills through a more challenging curriculum. Classes taught by working theater professionals (many of whom had their start right here in the Magic Valley!) include, but are not limited to: acting, auditioning skills, musical theater, choreography, vocal development, make-up, ostuming, set design, lighting, and prop construction. Each day will end with a rehearsal for the end-of-camp show which will be performed Friday night for friends and family! his special production will build on the skills the campers learned in their classes throughout the week and give them a chance to shine on the stage. Camp Directors Shane Brown and James Haycock have more than 42 years' experience teaching and working in theater and run the CSI and Twin Falls High School Theater Programs.



CSI Junior Theatre Camp

This three-day afternoon camp, a companion to the regular CSI Theatre Camp, is designed to introduce younger students (ages 6 through 9) to the world of theatre. No experience required! Campers will learn about concepts of drama through games and storytelling. They will learn the basics of what goes into a play -who does what, stage direction, how to express your emotions through performing, stage voice basics, and movement.

CSI Dance Camp Intensive
July 17-22, 2022
Ages: 12 and up

CSI Dance Camp provides Los Angeles-level intensive training for intermediate- to advanced-level dancers who are twelve or older and who want a challenging and rewarding summer camp experience in dance. The camp features an impressive guest faculty of professional dancers and dance instructors from all over the country with the mission of providing the best dance instruction possible to students in a supportive and safe environment. Students create their own class schedules and take five to seven hours of class per day in their choice of ballet, jazz, funk, tap, contemporary, lyrical, hip hop, modern, musical theatre, improvisation, stretch & conditioning, and more. At the end of the day, all the hard work is offset with fun and exciting downtime activities like swimming, bowling, laser shows, and craft or spa nights. Students have the option of staying off- or on-campus in the CSI Dorms.



Just Dance for Juniors!

This special day camp is designed to introduce younger students to the concept of an intensive workshop. No dancing experienced required! The camp features the same instructors as the regular camp -a guest faculty of professional dancers and dance teachers from around the country, bringing a wealth of talent and knowledge to assure each student achieves their highest potential. The day will include an array of such classes as ballet, modern, jazz, musical theatre, tap, and hip hop.

Do you love music? No matter your experience level, CSI MUSICFEST is the place for you! This week-long summer camp on the beautiful College of Southern Idaho campus provides opportunities for you to be immersed in music making. Focused study is available in strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion, piano, jazz, and voice. The daily schedule includes seven hours of hands-on instruction laid out to engage students thoroughly from beginning to end. Exceptional faculty from across the state work closely with you in small and large ensemble settings, as well as in daily master classes and sectionals. Listening labs brings theory and history of music to life! Each afternoon, students have the chance to shine alongside faculty mentors at the camp's performance spotlight. Private lessons and a range of elective areas are available to round out the camp experience. The week's learning culminates with student recitals, showcases, and mainstage concerts for friends, family, and community to enjoy. CSI MUSICFEST promises to be an unforgettable experience where students build life-long friendships through the power of music making!

In Little Robotitions Robotics Camp, younger students will learn new skills in science, engineering, technology, and coding using the LEGO WeDo 2.0 robotics kits and software. In this camp, students learn the important 21st century skill of programming the intuitive way - by bringing their adorable creations to life. What parents love, and the students don't realize, is they are also sharpening computational thinking skills like logical reasoning, pattern recognition, and modeling simulations. In Little Robotitions Robotics Camp, children are empowered to ask the right questions, define problems, and design their own solutions by putting scientific discovery in their own hands. They'll also learn gracious professionalism from the valley's own award-winning 5026 Tesla Coils FTC Robotics Team. Class sizes are limited to 10 kids per session.

Design, build, and program a LEGO EV3 robot that will crush the competition in a fun, end-of-camp contest. This Beginner EV3 Robotics camp is open to all boys and girls interested in applying science, technology, engineering, and math while learning real-world problem solving skills and gracious professionalism from the valley's own award-winning 5026 Tesla Coils FTC Robotics Team. Space is limited to the first 24 registrations.

REQUIREMENT FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE ADVANCED EV3 ROBOTICS CAMP: COMPLETION OF THE BASIC EV3 ROBOTICS CAMP IN 2020 OR 2021.

In the Advanced EV3 Robotics Camp, students will use LEGO MINDSTORM EV3 robotics kits to design and build programmable robots using motors, sensors, gears, wheels, axles, and other technical components. They will learn how to understand and interpret two-dimensional drawings to create three-dimensional models and gain practical, hands-on experience using mathematical concepts such as estimating and measuring distance, time, and speed. They'll learn gracious professionalism from the valley's own award-winning 5026 Tesla Coils FTC Robotics Team. Space is limited to the first 20 registrations. Important: This class is ONLY for students who’ve taken the BASIC EV3 ROBOTICS CAMP during the summer of 2020 OR 2021 from the 5026 Tesla Coils. Dianne E Jolovich

Kitchen Academy

Dianne is Professor of Hospitality Management and Culinary Arts at the College of Southern Idaho. Ms. Jolovich has been teaching at the college for 15 years. Dianne is also the advisor for Collegiate DECA and Skills USA and the Walt Disney College Intern Program Coordinator. Dianne received the 2009-2010 Professional-Technical Educator of the Year at CSI and the CTEI Outstanding Post-Secondary Teacher of the Year for Idaho in 2017. Dianne worked in the Hospitality Industry for over 30 years and enjoys teaching and working with the students in the very exciting field of hospitality. Dianne is the Director for the Community Education Kitchen Academy and loves working with the junior chefs. Due to COVID-19 this past year learning new ways to teach via ZOOM has been a great opportunity to reach out to new learners. Ms. Jolovich has also taught Canning and Food Storing Classes, Pressure Cooking, and new this year- Adult Date Night Zoom Cooking Classes. Dianne has a passion for teaching, learning and cooking.

Camp Masterpiece is the College of Southern Idaho's Summer Art Camp.  In Camp Masterpiece, young artists will discover a world of inspiration and creativity through open-ended, age-appropriate art lessons in drawing, painting, and sculpture.  We will explore different media working on these projects as students learn various art techniques.  Better yet, in this camp, visual and performing arts are combined with play, games and a snack, and the week will culminate in an art show and a performance. A Camp Masterpiece apron is included.  Camp Masterpiece features a faculty of artists and art teachers from the Magic Valley.

Cost: $135

Camp Director Karen Fothergill holds a Master’s Degree in Creative Arts in Learning and has taught art at Filer, Twin Falls, and Gooding High Schools. She has worked extensively teaching the youth of the Magic Valley through Community Ed, Kid’s Art in the Park, and at the Twin Falls Creative Arts Center.  Karen has been honored with the Governor’s Award in Art Education, an Idaho state art teacher of the year, and the Twin Falls Mayor’s Awards in Arts Education.

Camp Masterpiece Instructor Stacie Rambo is a longtime resident of Jerome. She is a wife, mother of four, and a grandmother of two She has worked for the Jerome School District for 18 years, and has been a part of various after school programs and camps. Stacie has instructed many classes for young people through CSI's Community Educators program over the past 10 years. She enjoys sharing art and nature with children and finding ways to included art and creativity in education.

Camp Masterpiece Instructor, Stephanie Pond holds a B.S. in Art Education from Brigham Young University-Idaho. She has worked in the Twin Falls School District for five years teaching art and is also the yearbook adviser at Twin Falls High School. She is a wife and mom of three young daughters, who also love to make art. Stephanie loves doing home building and DIY projects with her husband, traveling with her family and spending summers going on adventures with her girls.

Finally! A chance for students to have fun while developing writing skills and not worry about grades! In this one-week summer camp students will dive into multiple types of writing including fiction, creative non-fiction, poetry, and free writing styles. Students will learn about the elements of a story and the writing process and work to create a final product they can take home and share with friends and family. Each day students will do different freewriting exercises to develop their writing and focus on the process of bringing their ideas to life on the page. Students grades 3-6 will create and publish a story using their own ideas, writing, and artwork. Older students (grades 7-12) will gather the writing they produce during the camp to create an anthology of the work of the entire class. The focus will be on fun, creativity, and enjoying writing again!
